Poultry Industry Leaders Unite in Hyderabad to Address Chicken Price Fluctuations and Rising Feed Costs

Hyderabad, November 2, 2026:  In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the All India Poultry Breeders Association (AIPBA), Pan India Breeders Coordination Committee (PIBCC) and various state-level poultry associations came together for a high-level meeting at Novotel Hotel, Shamshabad, Hyderabad, to discuss broiler price fluctuations and key challenges confronting the poultry sector, particularly the availability and rising costs of feed ingredients during the El Niño year.

The meeting witnessed the participation of leading poultry industry representatives and stakeholders from across India, who deliberated on recent fluctuations in chicken prices, rising maize prices and other challenges affecting the poultry industry.

The meeting was attended by several prominent industry leaders, including Shri Bahadur Ali, Chairman, AIPBA; Shri Vasanth Kumar Shetty, Convenor, PIBCC; Dr. A. Tirupathi Reddy, President, TPBA; K.G. Anand, General Manager, Venkateshwara Hatcheries Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Sameer Agarwal, Managing Director, Shalimar Group of Companies; Mr. Vignesh Soundararajan, Managing Director, Suguna Foods; and Dr. Girish Kolwankar, Co-founder, Premium Chick Feeds Pvt. Ltd.

A key outcome of the meeting was the collective agreement among breeders across all zones to work towards coordinated pricing, with a minimum benchmark of ₹110 per kg for live chicken. Industry leaders observed that the recent decline in chicken prices was largely seasonal, coinciding with reduced consumption during the festival period, and appealed to stakeholders not to panic over temporary market fluctuations.

The participants emphasised the need for appropriate policy interventions to address the rising cost of poultry feed ingredients. In particular, they called for facilitating duty-free imports of non-GMO maize to ensure adequate availability of feed raw materials at reasonable prices. They also highlighted the importance of effectively utilising the abundant availability of soybean in the domestic market to support the poultry sector.

Reassuring poultry farmers, breeders and other stakeholders, industry leaders stated that the current price fluctuations are temporary and largely seasonal in nature. They stressed the importance of collective efforts and coordinated action to maintain market stability and protect the interests of the poultry industry.

As part of the collective way forward, the participating associations resolved to meet government representatives and policymakers in New Delhi later next week to discuss these concerns and other pressing challenges facing the poultry sector.
